How to become a Twitch Partner?

by Daan hein on Dec 06, 2024

Twitch, with over 100 million active users, has grown into the go-to platform for streamers. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting out or if you already have experience. You get the opportunity to grow and get noticed on Twitch.

Just streaming isn’t the only thing you can do on Twitch. It has its own Partner Program, which is an exclusive option for streamers that are looking for an even bigger growth on their channel. Becoming a Twitch Partner offers many benefits, which we’ll explore in this article. Keep reading to learn more!

How do you become a Twitch Partner?

If you want to become a Twitch Partner, you will have to be an Affiliate first. You will also need to make sure that your account aligns with the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines and DMCA Guidelines of Twitch. Now this is not all because you will need just a few more things as well, like:

• 1000 followers

• 25 hours streamed

• Stream on 12 different days

• 75 viewers on average

All these things need to be done within 30 days.

Once these four steps are complete, you then need to broadcast eight individual streams with an average of 75 viewers. So, it isn’t as simple as people might say. You will need to do a lot before you can become a Twitch Partner. But just because it is a long process doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Becoming a Twitch Affiliate should be your first goal, this process won’t take long, and anyone can do it.

Twitch Partner plus

How do you become a Twitch Partner

There are more levels to the Twitch Program as of October 2023. With this program, you get to keep 70% of your subscription revenue, compared to the 50% you get to keep with the normal Twitch Partner Program. But there is a catch. The 70% only applies to the first $100,000 you make in a year. Once you go over that, your share goes back to 50% until the next year when the limit resets.

So, Partner Plus does come with its benefits, and everyone can choose to become one. Of course, you do need to do a few steps before you can get the Plus Program. To get access to Twitch Partner Plus, you need to maintain at least 350 or more Partner Plus Points for three months in a row. You can get these points from paid tier 1/2/3 subscriptions. The amounts of points will reset every month.

• 1 point for tier 1

• 2 points for tier 2

• 6 points for tier 3

You need to maintain 350 points for three consecutive months to qualify for the Partner Plus Program. Once approved, you’ll remain in the program for a minimum of 12 months, provided you consistently earn 350 points monthly.

What are the benefits of becoming a Twitch Partner?

You open a lot of doors when you are a Twitch Partner, and it can really give your channel the boost it needs. Here are all the benefits that you get while being a Twitch Partner.

Channel subscriptions

You can get channel subscriptions, which means that you have a direct revenue stream. These subscriptions have 3 tiers and can be for getting into the Partner Plus Program as we talked about.

Run ads

You get the option to run ads during your streams and you will be in full control of it. It is up to you to choose when you display the ads. So, this can be in the beginning, middle or end of your streams. Of course, you will be able to get monetized while using these ads.

Twitch emotes

Twitch emotes

When becoming a Twitch Partner, you can customize your own emotes. Having personalized emotes really makes your streams unique and attracts more people from outside. You can get up to 60 unique emotes that you can use, so choose wisely what you want to do with them.

Badges

Make your stream even more custom with the badges that each subscriber has. It showcases how long a subscriber has been subscribed. This shows appreciation for loyal fans while motivating newer ones.

Better looking overlays

High-quality overlays can attract more viewers. Even for the followers you already have it is a nice touch that they will certainly appreciate. Being a Partner gives you the option to upload higher quality overlays which is a huge benefit if you want to increase the quality and overall look of your stream.

24/7 support

Being a Partner gives you access to 24/7 support from Twitch. It doesn’t matter what technical issues you have; Twitch will answer your questions as soon as possible.

Exclusive Partner-only opportunities

As a Partner, you get access to exclusive events, promotions, and collaborations. This gives you a lot of opportunities to grow your channel that other don’t have. It might give you the boost your channel needs!

7 easy ways to quickly become a Twitch Partner

It can take a while before you can apply for a Partnership with Twitch. So, here are 6 simple ways to accelerate your path to becoming a Partner:

Become a better Twitch streamer

One of the things you need to get into the Twitch Partner Program is having 75 viewers on average. If you have high-quality streams, you are more likely to attract more Twitch viewers. But not only your streams need to be high quality. You need to become a better Twitch streamer as well. This improves the overall look of your stream, helping you reach the 75-viewer goal more quickly.

Turn viewers into subscribers

Turn viewers into subscribers

Being a subscriber at your stream should look as attractive as possible. Getting into the Partner Program requires you to have a certain number of subscribers, so promote your channel actively to your viewers. Tell them about the benefits they’ll receive and how their support helps strengthen your profile.

Create a strong community

Engage with your audience by replying to comments or by talking to your chat. Create a friendly environment on your channel. The more active and welcoming your community is, the more followers you’ll attract, increasing your chances of becoming a Twitch Partner. It also helps your channel stand out way more compared to the competition.

Use social media

Use social media

Twitch is not the only platform where you can grow. You can use other social media platforms to help you get a bigger audience. Expand your reach through platforms like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, or even Telegram. All these social platforms can drive potential followers and viewers to your Twitch channel, helping you achieve Partnership.

How long can you stay Partner with Twitch?

You can stay a Twitch Partner as long as you meet their Partnership Terms and Conditions. It is important that you follow the rules and keep your account in good standing. Besides following the rules, you need to remain active as a streamer. Post frequently so that Twitch sees that you are bringing new content to the platform. Consistent activity on your channel also helps with the channel’s growth and reputation.

As a Partner, you often need to follow additional rules other than the Terms and Conditions. Depending on your niche, it can for example be that your content has to be on Twitch for at least 24 hours before you post it on other social media. Especially live streamed content needs to remain exclusive for Twitch for those first hours.

A drop in your engagement can result in your Partnership being taken away. A small decrease in followers or viewers is fine, but a bigger drop can lead to losing your Partnership. Therefore, always make sure that you get as much engagement as possible on your streams.
